Faculty of Ethiopian Church Studies

Holy Trinity Hniversity is the first modern theological institution of the Ethiopian Orthodox Täwaḥǝdo Church established as a College in 1944 to enable traditional scholars achieve modern theological education. Particularly, having upgraded to University level in, it has been organized by three Faculties and ten departments. One of the three Faculties is the Ethiopian Studies constituted by graduate and undergraduate programs. In its present status, the Faculty has three Departments in undergraduate program and four Departments in the postgraduate.

The Faculty currently has a total 17 staff of which the 5 are part-timers and the 1 in the administrative category. In connection with the academic rank, all of the academic staff are lecturers with MA degrees.

The Faculty now hosts 2 undergraduate (Gǝ‘ǝz and Philology), and 3 postgraduate (Gǝ‘ǝz, Philology and Art and Cultural Studies) programs in its regular and extension or evening programs. Joined in various academic years or grouped in different batches, a total of 141 students of which the 51 are in the postgraduate program are pursuing their studies in the Faculty

The Faculty has collaborations and working relationships with all Departments, Coordinators, Faculties and the Academic Vice President Office in various aspects. The main office of the Faculty of Ethiopian studies is located on the second floor of the University building
